The Spirituality of the Sacred Heart is entirely contemplative and wholly apostolic. In our work, we are guided by the contemplation of the Heart of God in the world, leading us to action. We strive to bring hope and peace to all people.

Our focus is on discovering and making known the love of God, whose source and symbol is the Heart of Christ.

… Caught up as we are in the desires of His Heart, we want people to grow in dignity, as human beings and as children of God Our starting point is the Gospel with all that it demands from us of love, forgiveness and justice, and of solidarity with those who are poor and rejected by the world (Constitutions #7).

Community Life

Our relationship with Jesus is at the core of our lives, and community living is a profound expression of our mission and spirituality.

Our relationship with Jesus is at the core of our lives, and community living is a profound expression of our mission and spirituality.

Community is not only how we organize ourselves, but also a space where we make decisions collectively for the sake of our lives and mission. It is both our mission and the foundation from which we live out that mission.               We believe that living in community offers a different way of being together in the world. We strive to witness Jesus’ love as we make hope, justice, and peace real in our communities and in the world.

We seek to create communities that are open to all, sharing not only our lives and faith, but also our dreams, challenges, goods, and resources. We are aware that Christ invites us to weave deeper connections across interpersonal, cultural, and ethnic diversities both within our regions and across Provinces.

Spirituality

As Religious of the Sacred Heart, Our charism is wholly contemplative and wholly active. Our lives are deeply anchored in prayer, which forms the foundation of our spirituality and mission.

Prayer is not just a ritual but a continuous and evolving dialogue with God, through which we seek to discover and reveal His boundless love. This personal relationship with God shapes every aspect of our lives, guiding us to see His presence in all things and deepening our understanding of His will. By immersing ourselves in prayer, we allow God’s love to transform our hearts, so that we can, in turn, share that love with the world.

Our spirituality is profoundly contemplative, rooted in love and attentiveness to the sacred. Contemplation is not reserved solely for moments of formal prayer but is integrated into our everyday experiences. Whether we are engaged in ministry, interacting with others, or attending to the tasks of daily life, we carry within us a contemplative awareness—a mindful, loving gaze that seeks to recognize God in all things. This contemplative stance allows us to approach the world with openness, compassion, and a deep sense of connection to creation and humanity.

This way of life calls us to be both contemplatives and active participants in the world. Our prayerful discernment fuels our ministries and actions, helping us to respond with love and compassion to the needs of those around us. Whether teaching, serving in communities, or advocating for justice and peace, we are guided by the love of God revealed through our prayer and contemplation. Thus, our spirituality becomes a dynamic force, empowering us to live in a way that witnesses to the transformative power of God’s love in every sphere of life.

Mission

Our mission is to discover and reveal the love of God through the service of education, pastoral, formation, and social justice.

Rooted in a deep relationship with Jesus and inspired by the founding vision of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, the RSCJ strive to make God’s love visible in the world, particularly through the transformation of individuals and communities.

Education is at the heart of their mission, not only in the intellectual sense but also in the holistic formation of individuals—spiritually, morally, and socially. The RSCJ believe in the power of education to uplift and empower, especially women and marginalized communities, encouraging them to become agents of change and leaders who embody compassion, justice, and love.

Beyond the classroom, the RSCJ are committed to fostering a spirituality that unites contemplation and action. Through prayer, community living, and ministry, they work to promote peace, justice, and the integrity of creation. Their mission extends to addressing societal issues such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation, always seeking to reveal the heart of Christ through acts of love, compassion, and advocacy for human dignity.

PILGRIMS OF HOPE

JUBILEE 2025

As pilgrims of hope, we walk with hearts ablaze, journeying through the unknown with faith as our compass and love as our guide. Each step is a testament to resilience, a reminder that even in the face of uncertainty, hope is the light that never fades. We are called to embrace the road ahead with courage, to lift one another when the path grows steep, and to trust that God’s promise unfolds with every stride. In the rhythm of our pilgrimage, we become living reflections of hope—witnesses to grace, bearers of light, and messengers of a future filled with peace.

ASH WEDNESDAY

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of reflection, repentance, and renewal. As ashes are placed upon our foreheads, we are reminded of our mortality and our need for spiritual transformation. It is a call to turn away from distractions, to seek deeper meaning, and to embrace grace with open hearts. In the quiet surrender of this day, we find strength—not in worldly success, but in humility, faith, and the promise of new beginnings.
